Pool Lane Dividers – Enhance Endurance Swimming

We all like to watch the Olympics on TV and wish that we could swim the way that many of the competitors swim in their lanes at a high rate of speed. Unfortunately most of us will never see this level of competition, however that does not mean that we cannot take advantage of the community pool and complete laps in the swimming lanes reserved for those swimmers who want to do laps and stay in shape. The pool lane dividers are usually long ropes with buoys attached that act as separators for the swimmers and keep them in their lanes in pools.

Swimmers sometimes will stray outside their lanes and the pool lane divider will guide them back into the lane without bothering the other swimmers. The dividers act like strips on the road to keep them in line and force them to swim in the lane that they are assigned. Whether you are swimming competitively or just for exercise, it takes a short while for swimmers to learn to swim straight and stay within the separators that most pools use to define the lanes. Once swimmers have mastered the techniques to stay within the lanes they can concentrate on their swimming style and their speed.

Most pools will have at least two lanes for lap swimmers to utilize, and some swimmers may have to swim in the other part of the pool reserved for people who are learning to swim or are just their for enjoyment. Although there are no separators, swimmers can pick a spot at the end of the pool to aim for and imagine that there are imaginary dividers lining this portion of the pool to act as separators from them and the other swimmers.
