Preventing Pool Evaporation Save Money
Pools on hot sunny days can lose as much as one hundred and fifty gallons of water each week to evaporation. Larger pools loose even more water to evaporation, and it may seem like you are endlessly adding water to the pool. Preventing pool evaporation is taken seriously by many commercial and public pool operators, especially if they must pay for their water usage. Many communities have all of their water on metered systems so this expense can add up very quickly.
Pool owners can prevent pool evaporation and the loss of chemicals by ensuring that their pools are covered when not in use. Preventing evaporation of water from pools can save a great deal of money on water bills, however there are other benefits as well by covering the pool. Customers also save on chemical use since the sun is not burning the free chlorine when the pool is covered. There is less debris and fine grit that is blown into the pool when the cover is on and if you have one of the covers that fits over the top of the pool, there is less chance of someone falling into the pool.
Another major advantage to covering the pool and stopping water from evaporating is that the pool water level does not become so low that the return suction does not lose its prime. This can happen if the pool is left for any length of time un-attended and water is left to evaporate. Water will evaporate if there is nothing stopping it.
