Bromine Pool Sanitizers – Tips to be Aware Of

Bromine pool sanitizers work differently than chlorine sanitizers, however based on various reports they tend to work very well as sanitizers in hot tubs and spas. As with most alternatives there are pros and cons associated with bromine sanitizers and purifiers. One of the advantages of the bromine purifier over chlorine sanitizers is that the bromine is almost independent of the pools PH level of the water. Chlorine sanitizers and purifiers are more sensitive to pools PH levels and lose some of their effectiveness if the PH is not at optimum levels.

Consumers who have been using a bromine pool sanitizer or purifer to cleanse their water in a spa or hot tub and are planning to convert to a chlorine sanitizer must empty all of the water from the hot tub and refill it. If chlorine is added to a tub were bromine was previously used as a purifier, the bromine will be reactivated to become hypobromous acid.

Whether you use a bromine or chlorine sanitizer for your pool or hot tub, the important thing is to manage the chemistry of the water to avoid algae growth and keep the water clear by using these purifiers. Regular maintenance of a few minutes each day is all that is required to ensure that you can enjoy many wonderful evenings in your pool and hot tub. A few minutes to check the level of chlorine or bromine purifier in pools and add some chemical is all that is generally required.
