Pool Filter Types Clean Pool Water
There are three types of filters that consumers can purchase with their new pools or replace existing filters with. The pool filter types that can be purchased are sand filters, diatomaceous filters and cartridge filters. These filters are readily available on the market, however the sand filter is the most common filter by far that is installed with your pool. All three types of filters must be provisioned to fit the size of your pool. If you have a large in ground pool, a large sand filter will also be required compared to a small above ground pool, which only needs a small water pump and filter.
The pool filter type that is most common is the sand filter. The pools sand filter as its name implies is filled with a special sand mixture that is designed to trap small particles of dirt and debris that gets through the skimmer. These particles gradually fill up the space between the sand particles and the pressure will gradually build up in the pool filter. Follow your pools instructions that come with the type of filter and backwash your filter when the pressure reaches the level that is mentioned in your pool filter instructions. Backwashing will dislodge all of these particles and send all of the dirt and debris that has been collected down the pools drain.
Diatomaceous and cartridge filters work much the same way, however they differ in the type of material that is used to trap the dirt as well as the cleaning instructions. A major advantage in these two types of filters is that they will trap smaller elements of dirt than the sand filter will, making your pool water much cleaner as a result of the type.
