Pool Cleaner Information – Vacuums & Strainers

There are three levels of cleaning that occur in a pool. Vacuums are added to improve the cleanup of debris and dirt that can accumulate on the bottom of the pool. There is a lot of pool cleaner information available over the Internet which falls into these three categories. The first area include the devices that typically come with the pool when it is installed. This includes the strainer located in the skimmer at the side of the pool, the strainer located at the pump, and the filter. The strainers collect larger debris before it enters the pump and the filter to avoid damage to the pump and clogging the filter. The filter acts as a cleaner for the smaller particles in pools.

The second area of pool cleaners information that is available relates to the many different types of vacuum cleaners that can be purchased for pools. There are pressure side and suction side vacuums as well as automatic vacuums. They all move around the pool bottom and utilize the suction action of the pools pump to pick up any particles that have settled on the bottom of the pool. These vacuum cleaners work well in combination with the strainers and filters.

The third area is not needed very often thankfully. Consumers should review the facts and documentation provided with your pool about regular maintenance of chemicals. Following these facts will avoid the pool turning green on you and requiring additional chemicals to first kill the green algae. Once the algae are killed, additional chemicals are added to cause settling to the bottom and then you can use your vacuum cleaner to clean up the dead algae.
