Automatic Pool Covers – Protect Your Investment

Automatic pool covers run along unobtrusive tracks when they open and close at the turn of a key. The pool cover can open or close in a matter of minutes providing protection for your pool in a number of ways. The automated system allows owners to use a key to open or close the pool. A key approach provides an additional level of automatic protection by ensuring that the pool cover cannot be opened by anyone other than the owner.

An automatic pool cover also provides additional layers of savings and protection as well. Pool owners will see a reduction in the amount of water evaporation from their pool when the cover is in place. Chemicals such as chlorine will last longer and also be more effective with the cover in place. Some of the larger pools in hot climates can lose up to 200 gallons in a week just from evaporation alone. If you are on a water meter at your home, you will notice the savings on your water bill when you use the pool cover consistently.

Automated pool covers also provide other savings as well. They protect the pool liner from the sun’s UV rays. Vinyl pool liners will become brittle with age and UV rays speed up the process. A pool cover can extend the life of your vinyl pool liner several years. Pool covers also absorb heat during the day and increase the temperature of your pool reducing heating requirements from gas heaters and solar heaters for pools. In the evening, pools can radiate a lot of heat unless a pool cover is in place to reduce the heat loss and an automated cover makes it easy.
